Colonie, NY Ranch and Split-Level Home Cleaning Guide
Latham, Loudonville and Newtonville are full of mid-century ranches and split-levels. Here is how to keep these homes clean on a busy commuter schedule.
Read moreColonie is the big suburban town wrapped around Albany's north and west sides, and it borders Watervliet, so it is right next door to our base. Inside the town you find several distinct places: Latham along Route 9 and the Latham Circle, Loudonville with its older, larger homes near Siena College, Newtonville, and the Village of Colonie off Central Avenue. Wolf Road runs past Colonie Center, hotels and offices to Albany International Airport, and the Northway (I-87) cuts through the middle of town. The Shaker Heritage Society and Ann Lee Pond preserve a quieter piece of local history near the airport. Most of the housing is mid-century ranches, split-levels, capes and colonials on residential streets, mixed with apartment complexes and newer townhomes. WVF Cleaning Services Company, run by Walace Fernandes, cleans houses, offices and commercial spaces throughout the Town of Colonie. Text us at (518) 720-2726.

Much of Colonie was built in the decades after World War II, so a lot of homes are ranches, split-levels and capes with one main bathroom plus a half bath, finished basements and kitchens that have been updated at least once. Split-levels need a plan, with short staircases and several living levels, so nothing is skipped. In Loudonville and parts of Latham, homes are larger, often colonials and Tudors with formal rooms, several full bathrooms and plenty of woodwork. Townhomes and apartments along Route 9 and Central Avenue are smaller but get heavy daily use. Our standard cleaning covers kitchens, bathrooms, dusting and floors on a recurring schedule. Deep cleaning adds baseboards, door frames, cabinet fronts, light switches, inside the microwave, and the soap film and grout lines in tubs and showers. We can also clean low residential windows on the main floor, though not high or upper-story windows.
Colonie is a town of commuters. Many households drive to Albany, the state offices, the hospitals or the airport every day, and recurring house cleaning gives them their evenings and weekends back. The town is also one of the busiest business areas in the Capital Region. Wolf Road, Central Avenue (Route 5), Route 9 in Latham and the area around Colonie Center are lined with offices, medical suites, restaurants and shops. Our office cleaning keeps desks, break rooms, restrooms and floors in order, and our commercial cleaning handles restaurant and bar floors, kitchens and dining rooms, where grease and foot traffic build up fast. When a Colonie homeowner finishes a basement or remodels a kitchen, or a business renovates a suite, post-construction cleaning clears the fine dust left on trim, vents, cabinets, sills and floors. Winter salt from the Northway and Route 7 is another constant, so entry floors need extra attention from December to March.
Our base at 715 24th Street in Watervliet sits along Colonie's eastern edge, so Latham, Newtonville and Loudonville are only minutes away by Route 2, Route 9 or I-787, and Wolf Road and Central Avenue are a short drive west. That makes Colonie one of the easiest parts of the Capital Region for us to fit into the schedule. WVF is owner-led, and Walace Fernandes is directly involved in the work. Starting is simple and stays in writing: text (518) 720-2726 with your neighborhood, the style of the home (ranch, split-level, colonial, townhome), the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, any pets, and the service you want. For an office or restaurant, tell us the size of the space and the hours that work. Photos help. We reply by text with a clear quote, and visits are scheduled Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM.
